Description

History and appeal from the words of the mother:

"Hello, my name is Tanya. I have a wonderful son, Andriy (6.5 years old).

But it so happened that Andriy has developmental issues. He was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and speech delay. In March 2024, he received disability status.

From birth, Andriyko had certain developmental delays (he couldn't hold his head up, didn't start rolling over on time, and had muscle tone issues). At 7 months, we had to put him in a Gnivkovsky brace to correct hip dysplasia, which was removed at 11 months. This brace immobilized the child, so Andriyko was unable to sit and walk on time (he started walking at 1.5 years old).

At 2 years old, it became clear that something was wrong with his speech development. He also exhibited stereotypical behavior—movements, rituals. But at the time, we thought he was just playing. In early 2022, it became clear that we needed to see doctors and specialists.

But it was at this time that a full-scale war with Russia began. In early March 2022, my son, my mother, and I left for the Chernivtsi region. My husband voluntarily enlisted in the army in April 2022 and is still serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the end of May 2022, we returned home to Kyiv and began visiting doctors and specialists.

Andriy attended specialized kindergartens, first private, then public. Now my son attends a private school in a preparatory class. Since Andriy has great difficulty communicating and being around large numbers of children/people in one room, a private school with small classes is the only acceptable option for us.

I have not been working since December 2023, as I am on childcare leave. My son requires a lot of attention and time. For almost three years, Andriy has been undergoing rehabilitation and attending sessions with specialists—an ABA therapist, psychologist, speech therapist, sensory integration therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and private swimming instructor.

I also try to use all available state funding programs and free rehabilitation services available in Kyiv. But if you count all the rehabilitation sessions, it comes to about four months a year. And the sessions must be continuous with only short breaks for rest.

I would like to appeal to the people and donors of the Dream to Live Charitable Foundation and ask you to help raise funds for Andriy's next course of rehabilitation.

I am grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to continue living and developing at home in my native Ukraine. Many thanks to all the caring people and organizations that help our children with rehabilitation and treatment. ”

At the moment, we are raising funds to pay for rehabilitation at the “MRC” for a total amount of 25,000 UAH.
