” “My daughter wanted to be born long before her due date. We somehow persuaded her to wait for a month - all the while lying in a hospital bed in the maternity ward. I didn't sleep as much as I did before or after that one month. If you think it's impossible to sleep for a whole day, interrupted only by food, it's not. I couldn't even read, even though I love it very much.
The first month of Sasha's life was also spent in the hospital, where she was gaining strength, and I was learning to live with the idea that I was a mother. These days were the same for me, but full of love, excitement and feeding. The only one who had a hard time then was our dad. Almost every day for two months, he traveled across the city by public transport to bring fresh home-cooked food, buy medicine, and just to see his daughter and support me, for which I will always be grateful.
I’ll guess, when we were sent home, Sasha was weighing a little more than 2 kilograms and the man was afraid to be held in her arms. Just recently we all went for a walk at once. This tradition is encouraged to be maintained today. Kohaniy got into the habit of changing his diaper, bathing, and giving birth to the baby. And I started to think that everything was good.
In the first months of life, one could lose a man and a child and not worry at all and everything would be “OK.” I was a very active young mother, I learned to wear a sling, and at the same time I went to the cinema and cafe with Sashunya, to bathe myself, or just to go for a walk with a friend. And just like everyone else, even though Sasha was suddenly married, it didn’t let me relax. The neurologist focused on physical development and we did a lot of exercise therapy and massage. This gave its results: the small daughter of the river began to walk independently. We rejoiced endlessly - happy childhood and motherhood.
As time passed, our child became more and more different from other children. She did not talk, was not interested in ordinary toys, sometimes it seemed that she did not hear when people spoke to her at all, tantrums and sleep disturbances began. We checked with various specialists until it was time to see a psychiatrist. It seems like such a simple word, but for some reason, some scary pictures immediately arise in my mind. And in vain, this is just a specialist who studies the mental development of a child. I knew what diagnosis I was going to get, but I knew as little about autism spectrum disorder as a first-grader knows about school when they first enter the classroom.
There is yet another challenge that needs to be fought and learned to live. Apart from the delay in physical development, autism appeared as a long-distance race and, unfortunately, I did not immediately understand. Bula was re-constructed: I will find a bunch of fakhivs who will work with my child, and until the fifth day everything will be fine with us.
I would like to say that the successful development of a child with autism cannot be limited to working with teachers. The head of the robot belongs to the family. The child throws herself into hysteria through a busy walker, and never stops working, as the speech therapist learns to repeat the sound “A”. I can’t go to the store because the psychologist taught me how to put together a puzzle. And what is the nature of autism: children don’t start on their own, they need to be taught everything, bit by bit. Our episode was greatly helped by ABA therapy and applied behavior analysis. And although everything went so well, they taught my daughter to overexert herself, use the toilet, calmly walk around the store, or just sit at the table for an hour.
The table was filled with success, so that the guts itself began to weave this knowledge and is very grateful to the people who created this science for me and my daughter. I admit, I started to start not only out of boredom. Another word has entered our lives - epilepsy. The word, which took away my sleep for the singing hour, was free to die and think firmly. I would like to know what it is. And since at that time there was already little evidence of how to live with this “beast” - autism, here I was completely unsettled.
And we began to read, for an hour I absorbed in myself this knowledge and was not needed, but at once, filtering the grains from the floor, I know for sure that my knowledge can help not only Sasha, but also other children. The front line is now different, with specific goals in mind. So we now have a wonderful speech therapist and rehabilitation therapist, who in an important way helped us achieve significant success.
Not so long ago we learned how to trim and handle them correctly, and now we can begin to assemble folding equipment with balls and other equipment. Therefore, working with a rehabilitologist is as necessary as working with a speech therapist, a speech pathologist, a psychologist, and we will do everything in our power to do so. ”
At the moment, there is a required rehabilitation course at the Center for Psycho-Physical Rehabilitation of Anastasia Nekhlyudova for a total amount of 19,000 UAH.
