“ Good afternoon! My name is Tetiana. In 2019, I gave birth to a wonderful daughter, Maria. The labor was stimulated, but went well.
The baby was born with an Apgar score of 7-9 and a weight of 3150, it was in the evening. The baby looked and felt like a healthy girl. But after a couple of hours, the child stopped breathing and had convulsions. The doctors said that if she survived the night, she would live, if not, she would not... It was the happiest and the most terrible day of my life. Thank God my strong daughter survived the night. She was on artificial respiration for five days. Two weeks later we were discharged. Every month we have a lot of examinations, constant doctors.
We took anticonvulsants for six months. I am very glad that we have no seizures. However, three times a year we need to undergo EEG for prevention. Due to respiratory arrest, the brain was damaged. Maria's development was delayed. After 1 year, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Since the diagnosis, we have been trying to undergo systematic rehabilitation. We usually pay for it at our own expense. Maria is recommended to undergo rehabilitation 4 times a year. The amount of rehabilitation is not small and there is no way to pay for it on our own.
Maria's classes help. After each rehabilitation session, her daughter feels better and learns something new. She started sitting up a month after the first rehabilitation, started walking at the age of 2, and also thanks to the classes. She even started going to the potty, again after rehabilitation. The tone in her legs has decreased, but unfortunately, there are few improvements in her hands, and she has problems with fine motor skills. Because of this problem, at the age of 5, Maria does not speak, she needs constant lessons with a speech therapist, a defectologist, she wants to hear the word “mom” so much.
Maria is a cheerful, active, very beautiful and kind girl. I do my best to help my daughter for her wonderful future.”
At the moment, he needs a rehabilitation course at the Physical Rehabilitation Center “Step by Step to the Goal” for a total of UAH 25,000.
