The story and a message from his mother:
“I am the mother of a special boy named Gleb. My son is 8 years old and has been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
Gleb was born in Mariupol as a cheerful and, at first glance, healthy child. Later, he went through an extremely difficult ordeal: he was found to have diverticulitis, severe systemic intoxication, and an infectious brain lesion, none of which had been diagnosed prior to emergency surgery.
Gleb underwent a complex six-hour surgical procedure. The doctors managed to save his life. After his ordeal and prolonged treatment, our family faced new challenges related to our child’s development and health. Gleb was later diagnosed with ASD.
Since then, we have come a long way through treatment and rehabilitation. In 2022, due to the full-scale war, our family was forced to leave Mariupol and move to Kyiv. Despite all the challenges, we are not giving up and continue to work on Gleb’s development.
Right now, he needs regular sessions with specialists in his field, psychological support, social and daily-life rehabilitation, and genetic testing.
These regular sessions help Gleb learn to better understand and manage his emotions, develop communication skills, adapt to the world around him, and become more independent. For him, every new skill is a small but extremely important step forward.
I really want my son to have the opportunity to continue his sessions, grow, and receive the necessary professional help. But it’s difficult for our family to cover all the costs on our own. That’s why we’re reaching out to caring people with a request to support Gleb.”
A fundraiser is currently underway to cover the cost of corrective and developmental sessions at the “World of Opportunities” Inclusive Center, for a total of 15 950 UAH.
