Twins were born prematurely weighing 1600 Denis and 1300 Valeria. Denis started breathing immediately, and Valeria was on a ventilator for 1.5 months. A week after giving birth, the children were transferred from the maternity hospital to the intensive care unit in "Okhmatdyt" to the department for premature babies. At 2.5 months, the babies were discharged home with high hopes. Parents and children constantly went for massage and physical therapy. But unfortunately, premature birth took its toll. Denis was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and spastic diplegia in 1.5 years, and Valeria in 1.7 years. Every three months, they undergo rehabilitation, exercise at home all the time, but they cannot walk on their own. In terms of development, they do not lag behind other children and are very eager for something new. They go to kindergarten. Doctors call them "promising", but you need to do a lot without putting in effort.
Denis and Valeria went to the Ukrainian Medical Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Organic Damage to the Nervous System. They were in the international clinic for restorative treatment in the city of Truskavets. In December 2014 in Kharkiv at the Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology. They both had an operation on their legs to remove spasticity, they were in casts for 6 weeks. After removing the cast, they underwent rehabilitation in Kharkiv at the Institute of Orthotics. And now the parents cannot rest on their laurels and are very much hoping for another help from the "Dream to Live" charitable foundation.
