History and appeal from the words of the mother:
“Veronika Chekhonadskaya was born on September 23, 2011. At the age of four months, the newborn girl had seizures, followed by hospitalization and intensive care, where the baby spent 3 days. After the seizures, doctors prescribed medications that may have caused the speech delay. While her peers were having fun on playgrounds, little Veronika was constantly in hospitals and under medical supervision. Speech therapists, psychologists - the best rehabilitation centers in the country, but the baby never started to speak. At the age of three, Veronika suffered from otitis media and became so ill that she almost lost her hearing. The best doctors in Ukraine cured her. One day, little Veronichka fell from a swing and got hemarthrosis of the left ankle joint. In 2018, a speech therapist and a psychiatrist diagnosed her with generalized underdevelopment of the 1st level.
The psychiatrist's verdict is autism, an autism spectrum disorder. It is a condition that occurs as a result of brain developmental disorders and is characterized by an inborn and comprehensive deficit in social interaction and communication. Autism cannot be cured, but over time, it is possible to adjust and adapt a person to social life. The family's struggle for Veronika and her adaptation begins. In 2018, a neurologist makes a disappointing diagnosis of cerebral residual organic failure, and every diagnosis of a child is a wound in a mother's heart. Cerebral residual organic failure is a pathology that occurred in the first 2 years of life: antenatally and perinatally as a consequence of partial placental abruption, severe prematurity, asphyxia in childbirth and intracranial trauma; postnatally - sepsis, cerebral complications of infections, severe bruises and concussions. Then he was treated for more than a year for keratitis, which is damage to the cornea.
The road of tears and suffering for the child, the road of hope for treatment and rehabilitation for the mother. Together with her mother and older sister, Veronichka undergoes rehabilitation courses every year. The worst thing happened to her psychological state, like hundreds of thousands of children in Ukraine, when in 2022, during the Russian war against Ukraine, the little girl stopped sleeping and hid under the sofa because of the horror of explosions and constant anxiety. Because Veronika did not speak, she found the song “You Know, I Want to Live So Badly” on her phone, which she listened to day after day, from morning to night, as if she were begging the Almighty to give her a chance to live. During the full-scale war, the family managed to leave for a short period of time for neighboring Poland and get rehabilitated. However, by a joint decision, the family returned to Ukraine, where they had relatives and friends. Now, together with the entire long-suffering country and courageous soldiers, we all, like this little girl, are going through our own path of tears and suffering, believing in God and that one day a mother will hear her twelve-year-old daughter say: “Mom, the war is over. I'm not afraid anymore and I'm not hiding.”
This little girl, Yangol with her curlers, has never formed anyone in her life, through her diagnoses her friends – doctors, rehabilitation specialists, social workers and volunteers and the director of the Dream of Living Foundation, who They took custody of a special Kiev school, where Veronichka begins.
According to the words of the family doctor, pediatrician, Ganny Matrosova, Veronitsa needs rapid rehabilitation, and in order to become healthy again, she will require rehabilitation in Mezhnarodnaya Kozyavkin’s rehabilitation clinic, this rehabilitation itself opens up a beneficial collection of money.
Everyone who helps the girls believes in miracles.
It is a mother's dream that one day she will hear her daughter's gentle and tender voice: “Mommy, I love you, grandma and sister, I love you too and I love you, my little dog Amurchik.”
Olena Tsarenko, mother of Veronika Chekhonadskaya. “
At the moment, he needs a rehabilitation course at the Physical Rehabilitation Center “Step by Step to the Goal” for a total of UAH 25,000.
